Kadabra Officially Returning To Pokemon TCG As Part Of “Pokemon Card 151” Set

Following initial reports, The Pokemon Company has officially confirmed Kadabra’s return to the Pokemon TCG.

The news was shared during the recent Champions League 2023 tournament in Japan, where the Pokemon Card 151 set was revealed along with a few of its cards. The set will feature cards for all 151 first generation Pokemon, including EX cards for Alakazam and Mew, as well as the first new Kadabra card in 21 years. It will release in Japan on June 16th as a “Strengthening Expansion Pack” set, sold as booster boxes of 20 cards for 5,800 yen each.

Kadabra’s return is a big deal, having been quietly excluded from the TCG following a lawsuit from magician Uri Geller, who took offense to the Pokemon’s Japanese name being a reference to himself. Geller has since changed his mind about the whole affair, and reportedly gave The Pokemon Company permission to use Kadabra in Pokemon cards again sometime in 2020.
